The tensile structure was designed to shade patrons of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden from the hot Palm Desert sun. The shade structure is a multi-purpose recreational structure that is used for outdoor dining as well as an outdoor concert venue. The structure measures 110’ x 170’ and is designed to resist the high desert winds and seismic events. The tensile fabric is manufactured by Ferrari and is illuminated with Color Kinetics LED lighting for dramatic changing lighting effects. The tensile structure was co-designed and engineered by StructureFlex Tensile Structure Engineers.
